About 4 kg of gold seized; two passengers taken into custody
Press Trust of India Kozhikode In a major seizure at nearby Karippur International Airport here, Air Customs Intelligence officials today seized 3.75 kg of gold valued at Rs 1.18 crore from two passengers in two separate incidents.
Officials seized 1.150 kg of gold valued at Rs 35 lakh from a passenger, who arrived by a Sharjah-Calicut Air India flight early morning.
The passenger was identified as Mohammed Musthafa hailing from Kasargod district in the state. The gold was hidden in a wheelchair the passenger had brought.
In the second case, 2.68 kg of gold valued at Rs 83 lakh was seized from Abdul Rafeeq of Koduvally in Kozhikode, who had arrived from Jeddah by Saudi Airlines.
The gold was hidden in a torch and mixie-motor,officials said, adding both were taken into custody for questioning.
