About Rs 42.59 lakh seized, 18.20 lakh returned

Election Deparetment officials have so far seized Rs 42.59 lakh from different persons for possessing without valid documents in the district.
Of this, about Rs 18.20 lakh have been handed over to the owners after they produced proper documents for the amount, they are holding and the remaining has been kept in the treasury, official sources said.
Meanwhile, Rs 1.40 lakh was seized from on R Subramanian by flying squad of the department at a place coming under Valparai assembly constituency, they said.
The department has so far registered 246 cases for violation of election code of conduct in 10 constituencies in the district, the sources said.
