Academician Bhale named VC of Akola-based agriculture varsity

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao today appointed veteran academician Vilas Madhukarrao Bhale as new vice- chancellor of the Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) located in Akola.
Bhale is at present Associate Dean at the College of Agriculture under the same university.
Bhale has been appointed vice-chancellor of the agriculture varsity for a term of five years, a release issued by the governor's office stated.
He succeeds Raviprakash Dani, whose term came to an end on July 29, 2017.
Bhale obtained his Ph D in Agronomy from GKVK, Bangalore in 1992. He secured a gold medal in his post graduation examination, the release stated.

He has 37 years of experience in teaching and research in agriculture and related fields. The VC-designate has 27 research publications and 13 books to his credit, it said.

Bhale is a recipient of the Dr Abdul Kalam Lifetime Achievement National Award and is a Fellow of Indian Society of Agronomy.
The governor had appointed a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Justice Hemant Gokhale, a retired Judge of the Supreme Court, to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment of VC of the premier university.
Rao, who is also chancellor of universities in the state, interviewed the candidates recommended by the committee and selected Bhale for the post, the release stated.
