"Each communication received from a Member of Parliament or VIP, shall be acknowledged within 15 days, followed by a reply within the next 15 days of acknowledgement sent," Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha quoting Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP).
It also provides for appropriate record and regular monitoring of communication received from Members of Parliament, he said.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances from time to time has reiterated the instructions contained in CSMOP relating to references received from MPs to all ministries or departments and has requested that the officials may be sensitised on the issue and a system be put in place wherein references from MPs are acknowledged and monitored by a senior officer on a regular basis, Singh said.
