Action against revenue official for issuing fake ST

The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district today ordered legal action against a revenue official for issuing fake ST certificates in favour of two brothers of his village for a government job in reserved category.
One of the brother got appointed as the prosecuting officer on the basis of the fake certificate.
District administration Udhampur has ordered legal action against the patwari for alleged misuse of his official position and dereliction of duty, an official spokesman said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana, who is also the District Vigilance Officer, directed the Station House Officer to lodge an FIR against the official, he said.

The action has been taken against the said patwari following a complaint by the president of an NGO Rahi Youth Development Club alleging that the official of Londna Rathian village prepared fake records for the issuance of ST certificates in favour of Riaz Ahmed and his brother Sarfaraz Ahmed.
After the perusal of the revenue record, it was found that the patwari had not only annexed the record of those khatas where the caste of the applicant was shown as Gujjar but didn't also enclose the record of those khatas where the caste was recorded as Marasi, which clearly indicated that the official had not only misled the naib-tehsildar and tehsildar concerned but also favoured and benefitted Riaz and Sarfaraz in obtaining the ST certificates, the spokesman added.
