'Community' and 'About a Boy' helmer Adam Davidson will direct 'The Walking Dead' spin-off's pilot.
Prolific television director Davidson recently reached a deal to work on the inaugural episode of the AMC series later this year, reported Deadline.
Davidson's extensive resume includes working regularly on 'The Following', 'Hell on Wheels' and 'Treme'.
'The Walking Dead' companion series is being written by the graphic novel's creator Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson.
The programme will follow a new set of characters in a previously-unseen area decimated by the zombie apocalypse.
A Latino male in his 40s and his rebellious son, a single mother-of-two and a former flower child will be among the characters featured in the series.
AMC gave 'The Walking Dead' spin-off a formal pilot order in September.
