Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Frogger all feature in the movie, which tells the story of what happens when aliens misinterpret videos of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, reported The Verge.
The US President (Kevin James) has to rely on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), to lead a team of old-school arcade players (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens.
Michelle Monaghan, Brian Cox, Jane Krakowski and Ashley Benson also feature in the comedy.
Chris Columbus ('Home Alone', 'Mrs Doubtfire') is directing the movie based on Patrick Jean's short film.
