In view of ADB Summit being held at the India Expo Centre here from May 2 to May 5, work on bridge over Shahadara drain was expedited and it was inaugurated today to ease traffic flow.
Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer Rama Raman inaugurated the bridge on Shahadra drain to provide ADB summit visitors free flow of traffic till the event site.
Presently, via DND Flyway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, commuters get signal-free drive, but at Shahdara drain, due to the width of drain bridge, traffic jams occur during peak hours.
Though road on either side was widened to four lanes each, but drain bridge was two-lane on either side, which was causing traffic bottlenecks.
Noida Authority has constructed two parallel bridges along the existing bridges on the drain.
The bridge was projected to be completed by next month but due to ADB summit, authority engineers sped up the construction and completed the bridges before the event.
A week ago, bridge from Noida to Greater Noida route was made operational and today Greater Noida to Noida route bridge was made operational.
Meanwhile, additional police force from other districts have reached the city.
A three-hour training was given to forces deployed for security during the event.
SSP Preetinder Singh said the city is ready for the event and all security measures are in place.
Traffic police have also been deputed to keep the route jam free.
Bomb squad, dog squad, anti mines squad and PAC teams have been deployed.
Twenty PCR vans will be posted from Chilla Regulator at Delhi-Noida border and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway till the event site.
