An additional sub-inspector of police was caught red-handed by a vigilance team today in Patna district while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to an official release, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team headed by DSP Paras Nath Singh laid a trap and caught ASI Yogendra Yadav just as he had accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant Ashok Das at Khushrupur police station.
The arrested officer, posted at Khushrupur police station, had "demanded" the bribe for arresting an accused and making a strong note in the case diary in connection with a case lodged by the complainant, the release said.
Yadav has been taken to the vigilance headquarters for questioning before being produced in the designated court for obtaining his judicial remand, the release said.
The vigilance department has so far laid 31 traps and arrested 33 government servants as part of its drive against corruption this year, it added.
