The secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar Aditya Verma has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to constitute a high-level enquiry committee to investigate whether former BCCI top brass allegedly tapping phones of Board officials.
In a letter addressed to the PM, Verma wrote about allegations that former BCCI secretary "Sanjay Patel paid Rs 14 crore to a London based private firm to tap phones and hack e-mails of senior board members before the Annual General Meeting on March, 2015".
Verma, the petitioner in the IPL fixing scandal, claims in his appeal that the "letter relating to the appointment of the London-based detective agency, we strongly believe is in possession of the BCCI bosses". He requested the PM to "kindly direct them (BCCI officials) to make the concerned letter public with immediate effect."
Former board secretary Sanjay Patel dismissed the allegations as 'absolutely baseless' and said the payment was made for some other purpose.
