Minister for Labour and Skills Shibu Baby John handed over the first copy of the prospectus of KSID to National Institute of Design (NID) Bangalore vice chairperson Susanth C S at a function held here.
Director of Employment and Training A Shainamol IAS, and KASE Managing Director Rahul R were among those attended the function.
The institute, which comes under the state government's apex skill development agency KASE, is located in Chandanathope in the outskirts of Kollam district.
The institute aims to attract the best talent from around the country, whose options are now limited to the NIDs in Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
"We aim to make this an exemplary institute nationally, and gradually also internationally," said Baby John. "We have received faculty and curriculum support from the prestigious NIDs, and hopefully can also look forward to an affiliation with them", he added.
