The series is the "modern and dark re-imagining of" the classic tale "The Wizard of Oz", reported Aceshowbiz.
The project was initially ordered to series in January 2014 with Josh Friedman and Matthew Arnold as the writers, before NBC decided not to move forward with it because the network and producers could not agree on a shared vision for the show.
It was revived in April with David Schulner tapped as new writer and showrunner. Shaun Cassidy will executive produce the drama.
