Afghan national held for smuggling gold at airport

An Afghan national has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth about Rs 55 lakh at the international airport here.
The passenger was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival here from Dubai yesterday. On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, twenty gold bars in total weighing 2.3 kgs were recovered from him, a press release issued today by the customs said.
The total value of the gold is assessed to be Rs 54.93 lakh. The passenger has been arrested, it said.
