Ghulam Farooq Parwani, deputy head of the Afghan National Army in Helmand, says Taliban insurgents, including suicide bombers, attacked Camp Bastion, formerly occupied by British forces, early today morning.
Seven soldiers were wounded in the attack, Parwani says. More than 20 insurgents, including seven suicide bombers, were killed.
The Taliban claimed responsibility.
Also in Helmand, two police officers were killed and two wounded in a suicide attack on their vehicle in Nawzad district, local police spokesman Ahmad Obaid says.
