Aga Hussain has been elected for a second term to the 10-member executive committee of the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU).
The election took place at the council meeting of ARFU in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on December 8.
Hussain, who is the vice-president of the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU), had made history in 2011 when he became the first Indian ever to be elected to ARFU.
Hussain, who led the country in its first international tournament in 1998, has worked tirelessly to popularise and develop the sport of Rugby in India. A game that was enjoyed only in a few metros until recently, has spread across the country.
At ARFU, he would continue to serve on the Tournament Committee which is in-charge of organising and executing Rugby tournaments across Asia for the next two years.
"I am honoured to have been re-elected and thank the 28 member Council for their confidence in me. I am committed to highlight issues of all the developing Rugby Nations in Asia and to ensure an equal representation of their views in all policy decisions," said Hussain.
The ARFU is the governing body of Rugby in Asia under the authority of the International Rugby Board (IRB). Founded in 1968 by eight charter nations, ARFU today has 28 members across Asia, stretching from the Jordan in the West to Japan in the East and from Mongolia in the North to Indonesia in the South.
