Ahead of BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi's rally in the city, the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir today hit out at the saffron party saying it was facing total rejection from electorate.
The National Conference also came down heavily on the opposition PDP saying it was on the brink of annihilation.
"The PDP is on the brink of annihilation while the BJP is facing total rejection (from people of JK)," NC Provincial chief Devender Singh Rana said.
"The BJP is poised to face big public rejection for riding the demon of communalism," he said.
On Modi's rally in the temple city on December one, Rana said "everybody is within his democratic rights to reach out to people but as far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, the BJP has never been a factor and will never be so in future."
Talking to reporters after some BJP leaders joined the NC at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, he predicted six to seven PDP legislators would quit the party soon.
Rana said "the PDP is yet to clear the mist over its leaders meeting a senior BJP leader in Delhi ahead of the 2008 Amarnath land yatra row."
Posing queries to the PDP on what he alleged the presence of its two senior leaders in New Delhi recently and their overtures to the BJP by utilising the services of a former IB Director, a woman NGO and a journalist, Rana said "the Muftis owe an explanation to the people whom they hoodwink day in and day out".
