Anbalagan earlier held talks with the Director of the Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare urging the government to sanction Rs four lakh for each of the 40 families belonging to scheduled castes in the constituency that Anbalagan represents in the Assembly under a scheme of the department.
The official assured that the applications would be considered and subsidy sanctioned. But the legislator and a team of workers insisted that the Secretary to the department meet them and extend the assurance.
Police intervened and took Anbalagan and the workers, including women into custody.They were later released, police added.
