The film is an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestselling novel of the same name, reported Deadline.
Scripted by Craig Bolotin, Brad Desch, Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, the story opens as a man snowbound and stuck in his car after a major crash on an isolated road. As he drifts in and out of consciousness awaiting rescue, the man sees visions of his life's love, who died earlier.
Alda will play the injured man, Ira, and Jack Huston was just set to play the same character in flashbacks.
