Earlier in "Comedy Circus", Ali played a female character in most of the episodes and when he was offered to play a woman on screen again, he was reluctant.
"To get into the attire of a woman, I was skeptical.I was not that keen on taking up the show. As I had done enough of such parts...I was fed up doing it. It is not that I had doubt on Kapil Sharma's capability," Ali told PTI.
Ali's portrayal of 'alcoholic daadi,' who flirts and breaks into dance at the drop of a hat on the show, became immensely popular.
"The kissing (part) just happened, we did not anticipate that it will be loved by the audience and celebrities. When Amitabh Bachchan was going to come on the show there were lot of do's and dont's, even I was nervous. He surprised us. He was friendly...He even kissed me instead me kissing him," he added.
Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah
Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar have come on the show to promote their respective films. But, Ali had fun when cricketers visited the show.
"I was excited when cricketers like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, Irfan Pathan and others used to come on the show," he said.
"The show has been a huge hit due to the celebrities. They opened their lives with us. They gave us that much liberty to do everything with them," he added.
