"All the pending issues with regard to the Navi Mumbai airport have now been resolved and the Maharashtra government, in collaboration with the Central government, is now moving ahead on the work," Singh, who was here to inaugurate Mumbai airport's new terminal 'T2', said.
Navi Mumbai airport, conceived 27 years ago, has been held up due to issues relating to land acquisition and environment clearances.
The government has also agreed to provide one floor space index (FSI) for 12.5 per cent of the developed land and 2.5 FSI for another 10 per cent of developed land. Further, the PAPs would get three times more land to the current residential plot they occupy.
Of the 2,268 hectares required for the airport, 1,572 hectares are already acquired.
The project cost, estimated at Rs 4,766 crore in 1998, has risen to around Rs 14,573 crore as of date. The airport is expected to handle 60 million passengers annually.
