Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang today said both the government of India and Naga political groups have realised that negotiations, and not violence, can solve the protracted Naga political problem.
Interacting with Norwegian Ambassador to India, Nils Ragmar Kamsyag, Zeliang said all the parties concerned, except NSCN(K), have realised the futility of taking up arms to solve political differences.
"We are happy that the Prime Minister is fully committed to solving the Naga problem very soon and he has already brought out a formula to solve the problem when the historic Naga Peace Accord was signed with NSCN(IM) on August 3," he said.
"No Prime Minister in India has been as determined as Narendra Modi to solve the Naga problem. We were very happy that soon after the accord was signed, he made a declaration in Dubai that the Naga political problem is being solved through peaceful negotiations," Zeliang said.
"We have high hopes on the present Prime Minister. He is also one of the strongest Prime Ministers India has had in recent memory," the CM said.
The CM expressed the hope that NSCN(K) will enter into a ceasefire agreement with the Centre, Zeliang told the Norwegian Ambassador who called on him.
