"Alstom T&D India has been awarded a contract of approximately euro 34 million by Power Grid Corporation of India (Power Grid) to supply two gas-insulated substations," the company said in a statement.
The two substations will be located at Betul in Madhya Pradesh and Navsari in Gujarat, Alstom T&D India said, adding that the substations will be completely manufactured in India.
"The first 400/220 kv gas-insulated substation (GIS) constructed at Betul will transmit power generated from the Mouda Super Thermal Power Plant-II. The second installation at Navsari, will carry power generated at the Kakrapar Atomic Power station," it said adding that both the substations will feed power to the national grid.
"It is good to see Power Grid adopting the Make in India programme, awarding it first made in India GIS order to Alstom," Alstom T&D India Managing Director Rathin Basu said in the statement.
