A 'chadar' from Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva was today offered at the dargah of sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti during the 801st Urs of the Gharib Nawaz here.
Officers on behalf of Alva presented the chadar in the morning and prayed for the peace and prosperity in the state and the nation, according to an official.
Meanwhile, religious functions related to the Urs began last night with the sighting of the Moon.
Renditions of qawwalies at the 'Mehfil Khana' and the 'Ghusl ki Rasm', a ceremony, took place at the mausoleum of the revered saint.
Lakhs of people from all over the world visit dargah during the Urs, that commemorates the death anniversary of the sufi saint.
