While Amarinder Singh will be the chairman of the state committee, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Sunil Kumar Jakhar and senior leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal will be its members.
The decison was taken today as the party formally started the process of selecting the candidates for elections to the four Municipal Corporations of Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Amritsar and Patiala, a party release said here.
All the aspiring candidates have been asked to submit their applications to the respective district presidents or the committee itself on May 8 at Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Amritsar and on May 9 at Patiala.
After Congress' defeat in the Punjab polls held this year, many senior leaders within the party's state unit had pitched for removal of Amarinder Singh as PCC chief.
The forthcoming civic polls in Punjab will be first test for the the SAD-BJP combine after it returned to power in the January 30 state assembly polls. PTI SUN RT
