Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today said a Rs 600-crore solid waste management plant capable of generating electricity will be established at Patvi village here.
The plant will generate electricity from the waste that is collected from Ambala, Karnal and other nearby towns, he said during an event to mark the World Environment Day here.
"With the assistance of an Mumbai-based organisation, the municipal corporation will provide separate dustbins for dry and wet waste disposal to each house in the area," Vij said.
This organisation would visit people and encourage them to put waste into these dustbins, he said.
"The previous government had used the name of Mahatma Gandhi for gaining political benefits, but never made efforts to implement his ideals at the ground level," he alleged.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to make the country waste-free by October 2, 2019, the minister said.
