AMC poll date announced

Elections to the 19-ward Aizawl
Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 25-member Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) will be held simultaneously on November 26, Mizoram State Election Commissioner L Tochhong today said.
Announcing the poll date, Tochhong said that the Election Model Code of Conduct was in place from today in the jurisdiction of the AMC and the LADC area in south Mizoram's Lawngtlai district.
She said that Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl district would issue the notification of the state election commision tomorrow for the AMC polls.
Last date of filing nominations was fixed on November six and last date of withdrawal on November nine.

Counting of votes would be undertaken after polling is completed on November 26.

Six of the 19 wards of the AMC are reserved for women and there are 211 polling stations where polling would be conducted with ballot papers.
The number of voters in the AMC is 1,92,382.
For the LADC polls, the last date of filing nominations is November five and last date of withdrawal of candidature is November nine.
Counting of votes would be held in Lawngtlai town on November 28.
The electorate of 45,757 including 23,279 women voters would exercise franchise in 103 polling stations.
