Supermodel Tyra Banks took to Twitter to announce that "America's Next Top Model" is coming to an end after 22 seasons.
Tyra created "America's Next Top Model" along with Kenya Barris, and Ken Mok. The reality competition series premiered in May 2003. It produced several well-known models including Analeigh Tipton, Adrianne Curry, CariDee English, Yaya DaCosta, Lisa D'Amato, Whitney Thompson, Dani Evans and Eva Marcille.
"TYRA MAIL! Thinking #ANTM22 should be our last cycle. I truly believe it's time. May your pics be forever fierce. Keep on Smizing!" Tyra wrote on twitter.
Tyra posted a longer message to "ANTM" fans on Instagram along with a picture of number 22.
The 41-year-old model then added on Twitter, "Guess what. The series finale of #ANTM #cycle22 & final Top Model show ever will air on Friday, December 4th. My birthday. #ironic."
CW President Mark Pedowitz responded to Tyra's announcement in a statement, saying, "America's Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks, first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global pop culture phenomenon.
"I want to thank Tyra and Ken for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the US, but all across the world."
According to CW, there are talks about assembling a retrospective special targeted to air late next year.
