American expert on sustainable development

American Urban Planning expert Robert Brosnan today pointed out the importance of linking development, transport, energy efficiency and land preservation for sustainable development.
"With rapid urbanization, preserving the environment poses many challenges and government, industry and civil society need to play a responsible role in this effort to ensure that development is more sustainable," Brosnan said here during a round-table discussion organised by US Consulate Kolkata as a part of its green initiative programs.
Green buildings could play a catalytic role in addressing these concerns and The 'Green Building' Movement in India was advancing at a rapid pace with over 1,608 registered projects covering a green footprint of 1.15 billion sq ft, he added.

Brosnan currently leads city planning for Arlington, which is a district near Washington DC and during his 36-year career has focused on developing land use and zoning tools to encourage development closely linked to transportation.
