On his first official tour of Tamil Nadu after taking over as party chief, BJP President Amit Shah will arrive here tomorrow on a two-day visit to the state on which the party has set its sights for making inroads ahead of 2016 assembly elections.
Shah is scheduled to address a public rally at Maraimalainagar near the city tomorrow and meet BJP workers on Sunday, party sources said.
Shah's visit comes at a time when the BJP's state unit is fancying its chances of putting up a better show in the next Assembly polls due in 2016, riding on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP, which led a rainbow alliance of smaller parties in this year's Lok Sabha elections albeit ending up with only one seat for it and another for ally PMK out of the total 39, feels that a political vacuum has arisen in the wake of the conviction of ruling AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa in an assets case.
The senior leader is expected to pep up the state unit and its workers ahead of the next elections.
Though BJP party had stitched up the 'mega' alliance for the Lok Sabha polls, AIADMK won 37 of the 39 Parliamentary seats.
