The 72-year-old actor was in the capital to promote his upcoming film "Shamitabh" along with co-stars Dhanush and debutante actress Akshara Haasan.
The "Bhoothnath Returns" star attended a press conference in PVR Plaza and when he made his way out of the theatre, he was greeted by thousands of fans waiting outside to click a picture of the actor.
The crazy admirers were standing on the pillars and crowded the street thereby causing a chaotic situation outside the multiplex which was later managed by police.
"He is so tall and good looking. He doesn't look his age. I managed to click a picture of him," said a woman in her mid-30s, who was in the Connaught Place to shop.
Apart from Bachchan, the girls in the crowd went mad for the 'Raanjhana' star, who plays an actor in the R Balki- directed film. Dhanush, 31, donned a shimmery black suit with black shades. Akshara opted for a black leather jacket and jeggings.
The chaos outside the multiplex gave a tough time to the police, who struggled to manage the crowd and traffic.
