Amritsar-Pathankot train searched after bomb scare

Acting on a tip-off, a bomb squad team today searched the passenger train from Amritsar to Pathankot for two hours looking for explosives of any kind.
However, no dangerous substance was found in the train in a joint operation launched by GRP, CRPF and Punjab police personnel.
"We had some specific information and accordingly the train was searched," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manoj Kumar said.
The train was halted at Sarna railway station for about two hours. Passenger were directed to alight from it for the search operation, he said.
The security agencies also thoroughly checked the railway tracks between Pathankot and Amritsar. The train services were restored after nothing was found, he added.
