Students of Aligarh Muslim University held a candle light march in solidarity with people killed in Palestine and also protested against the ongoing Israeli offencive.
In a memorandum addressed to the Secretary General of the UN, the students urged the organisation to directly intervene and impose a ceasefire in the troubled area.
The memorandum, a copy of which has also been sent to President Pranab Mukherjee, urges all international humanitarian organisations to join hands for providing immediate medical assistance and essential commodities to the beleaguered people of Ghaza Strip.
"It is ironical that Western countries are maintaining silence on the heinous activities done by Israel on unarmed civilians," according to the memorandum.
The AMU students culminated their march at the University Circle yesterday where they handed over the memorandum to the Additional City Magistrate.
