The district administration had also instructed police to file criminal cases against the workers, they said.
The girl had suffered burns in her cheek and left thigh.
Police said the kid, daughter of a coolie, was tortured by the anganvadi workers recently in their attempt to keep her silent in the class.
When the kid's mother Murugeswari inquired the anganvadi workers about the injuries, they said the girl had fallen into a gutter and they only rescued her, police said.
Not satisfied with the reply, she submitted a complaint at the Royappanpatti police station.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that the girl had been tortured by the anganvadi workers Jaya and Bharthi.
District Collector Palanisamy suspended the two after the Project officer of Integrated Child Development Programme conducted an inquiry into the incident.
The Collector had also directed the police to register criminal cases against the two anganvadi workers.
