Anindita honoured with Jayadev Rastriya Yuva Puraskar award

US-based Kathak dancer Anindita Anaam was honoured with the prestigious 'Shri Jayadev Rastriya Yuva Pratibha Puraskar 2018' for outstanding contribution to the field of art.

The award was presented to the Kathak exponent during the 'Jayadev International Dance Festival' here last night.

The four-day festival that began on May 13 has been organised under the aegis of Odisha's culture department and National Culture Mission.

Anindita said she has been a regular performer and Kathak instructor in Wisconsin with an aim to popularise the dance form globally.

The danseuse, trained in both Jaipur and Lucknow gharanas, said she has been part of many cultural festivals where she blended traditional Kathak with other world forms like jazz and ballet.

The US-based dancer enthralled the viewers with her recital here last night.
