Nearly a month after it suspended classes in the wake of a students' protest, Chidambaram-based Annamalai University today announced partial resumption of classes from tomorrow.
"Classes for all post graduate courses, including agriculture and engineering branches, will begin tomorrow," said a release from the university, whose administration was taken over by the Tamil Nadu Government last year.
Besides the PG courses, classes for BSc (Agriculture and Horticulture) second year and BE (all branches) second and final year would also begin tomorrow.
The date of commencement of classes for third year students pursuing BSc (Agriculture and Horticulture) and BE (all branches) would be announced later, the release said.
University Administrator Shiv Das Meena had on August 9 announced indefinite suspension of classes barring medical courses in its campus in Chidambaram, about 200 km from here, following a dharna by students demanding disbursement of scholarship for SC/ST students.
Following allegations of financial irregularities, the state government took over administration of the 86-year-old university through an act.
