AP govt announces Rs 2 crore reward for Kidambi Srikanth
Press Trust of India Amaravati After former Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel today nominated badminton superstar Kidambi Srikanth for the prestigious Padma Shri award, the government of his home state, Andhra Pradesh, announced a reward of Rs 2 crore for the shuttler.
After a state cabinet meeting, Andhra Pradesh information minister K Srinivasulu informed reporters about the reward.
Srikanth, who hails from Guntur district, will also get a deputy collector-rank job in the government service, he said.
Srikanth became the first Indian and only the fourth shuttler in the world to win four Super Series tournaments in a calender season when he clinched the French Open last week.
