AP govt inks MoU for launching 'Power for All' scheme

Andhra Pradesh government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Union Power Ministry, launching the 'Power for All' scheme from October 2 in the state.
Andhra Pradesh is the third state in the country after Delhi and Rajasthan where the scheme is being launched to ensure 24x7 electricity supply to all sectors (excluding agriculture).
The state government also signed an MoU with NTPC for setting up a 4000 MW super critical ultra mega thermal power project in Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore.
NTPC Chairman Arup Roy Chowdary and AP Energy Secretary Ajay Jain signed the MoU in the presence of Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal and state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The state government allotted 1200 acres of land for the power project which is expected to be commissioned by 2019-20.
MoUs were also signed between the state government and the Union for setting up three solar power parks in the Rayalaseema region of AP with a combined generation capacity of 2500 MW.
Another MoU was signed between Hero Motors and the state Industries Department under which the former will set up a two-wheeler manufacturing unit at Satyaveedu in Chittoor district with an investment of Rs 2200 crore.
