The state government has accorded a sanction of Rs 570 crore for the Pushkaram works. The irrigation department will construct the ghats while the endowment department will take up repairs and reconstruction of temples East Godavari district, Collector H Arun Kumar said.
A high-power committee will be oversee the preparation for the 12-day festival likely to begin from July 14.
The works for the festival are likely to be completed by May.
Around 2-3 crore people are expected to participate in the Pushkaram and take a holy dip in river Godavari.
