The registration process for the issuance of smart cards would begin soon. The card would help the labourers to reap benefits of government and union-promoted labour welfare programmes, an official release said.
Drivers and labourers can enrol their names online or at the nearest e-seva centres.
The smart cards would be issued with details of Aadhaar number, bank account and other details.
The government aims to enroll one crore labourers under this scheme, it said.
The labourers would be enrolled in the 'Pradhan Mantri Bima Surakasha Yojana' under which workers in the unorganised sector would get a benefit of Rs two lakh accident death insurance by opening a savings bank account under the Jan Dhan Yojana.
Tomorrow, the Labour Department will also launch its web portal - labour.Ap.Gov.In.
The state government would celebrate the Workers' Day tomorrow at Rajahmundry, the release said.
