AP Legislature monsoon session to begin on Sept 6

: The monsoon session of Andhra Pradesh Legislature will commence here on September 6.

The session was likely to be held for 10-12 days, Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao told reporters here today.

On the main opposition YSR Congress boycotting the legislature for the past few sessions, he said it was the responsibility of elected members to attend the House.

The YSRC are keeping away from the Assembly in protest against the Speaker's alleged failure to disqualify party's legislators who defected to the ruling TDP.

"People's problems could be highlighted and solutions sought only when members attend the House. I have always been appealing to the opposition to attend the session," Rao said.

The Speaker said the Chief Minister responded positively to his request that water be released into the Nagarjuna Sagar right canal for paddy crop.
