"The government will replace one lakh ceiling fans with energy-efficient 5-star rated fans in Andhra Pradesh," K Ranganatham, Energy Advisor, Andhra Pradesh, told PTI.
"The idea is to give two fans to each domestic consumer and five fans for commercial purpose and 10 fans for educational institutions," he said.
Total replacement of one lakh fans would result in saving 15 million units (MU) of electricity per annum, he added.
EESL is facilitating the implementation of energy efficiency projects in the country.
The cost of normal ceiling fan varies between Rs 1,600 and Rs 1,800 while energy efficient ceiling fans would cost Rs 955 and another Rs 150 as installation charges, he said.
"The amount of such ceiling fans would be recovered in 24 installments," he added.
The Centre has set a target to distribute over six crore LED bulbs through EESL.
