Arhar prices extend gains on rising demand

Arhar prices were up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today supported by increased offtake by stockists to meet pick up in retailers demand.
However, movements into pulses remained restricted in the absence of any worthwhile buying or selling, and settled at previous levels.
Traders said increased offtake by stockists, to meet strong demand from retailers mainly influenced arhar prices.
In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety remained in strong demand and strength gained by another Rs 100 each to Rs 4,200 and Rs 6,100-7,900 per quintal, respectively.
Urad edged up to Rs 5,350-6,700 from previous level of Rs 5,200-6,600 per quintal. Its dal chilka local, best quality and dhoya were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,700-5,800, Rs 5,800- 6,300 and Rs 6,200-6,400 per quintal, respectively.
