A group of around 15-20 miscreants armed with iron rods, sticks and firearms barged in the cold storage this evening and beat up several potato traders and staff of the cold storage facility, before looting cash and potato bonds worth several lakhs of rupees, said Priyabroto Bakshi, Inspector in-charge of Burdwan police station.
While fleeing, they exploded two bombs to terrorise the local people, he said.
"Investigations are on and raids are being conducted to trace the whereabouts of the miscreants," said Kunal Agarwal, district Superintendent of Police.
