Incarcerated JD(U) MLA Anant Singh was today remanded in judicial custody till July 20 by a local court in a case lodged against him under the Arms Act last month.
Singh, the JD(U) MLA from Mokama Assembly constituency in Patna district, was brought to the district court from Beur jail under tight security and produced before Magistrate Raghvendra Narayan Singh, who sent him to judicial remand till July 20.
Patna police had lodged a case against the MLA under sections 25 (1B), 26 and 35 of the Arms Act after allegedly recovering six magazines of Insas rifle and a foreign-made bullet-proof jacket, besides blood-stained cloths in a polythene bag from a bush at his official residence in the state capital on June 24.
The police had raided Singh's residence on that day in connection with kidnapping of four youths, one of whom was later found murdered in his native Ladwa in Barh block of Patna district.
The MLA was arrested on June 24 in connection with a case of kidnapping of a builder from Bihta in rural Patna in 2014.
Amrendra Kumar Jha, who is the Investigating Officer (IO) in the kidnapping case lodged against Singh, had filed a request application in the district court on June 27 praying for issuance of production warrant against the accused.
Singh is presently incarcerated in Beur jail since June 24 in connection with the kidnapping case.
