The police unearthed an illegal arms manufacturing factory at Rajarhat, near here, in North 24 Parganas district on Thursday night and arrested seven persons, a senior officer said.
Around 100 semi-finished 7mm and 9mm pistols were recovered during the raid conducted by personnel of the Kolkata Police Special Task Force and the Bidhannagar Police.
"Our raid is still on. So far we have seized several lathe machines which were used to manufacture the pistols," the IPS officer said.
The arrested persons are being questioned to find out whether or not they were working for any terror outfit, he said.
