Army jawan injured in encounter in Kupwara district

An Army jawan was today injured in an encounter with militants in the forests of north Kashmir Kupwara district, police said here.
The hurt jawan has been airlifted to an Army hospital in Drugmulla in Kupwara, they added.
"An encounter broke out at around 3.45 PM between security forces and militants in forests of Haji Naka in Kupwara district," a police official said.
He said an army jawan was injured in the initial exchange of firing between the two sides.
The operation was in progress when reports last came in, the official said.
