Army officer's widow held for forgery

A 50-year-old widow of an Army officer was arrested here today for allegedly duping three people of crores of rupees on the pretext of selling them share in a petrol pump which was allotted to her under the martyrs' scheme, police said.
Tanya Kapoor, widow of an Army officer who died in 1992 while being posted at Indo-China border, was allotted a petrol pump in South Delhi's posh Arvindo Road, Green Park area, an official said.
Over a period of time she contacted several people for selling 49 per cent partnership in the petrol pump. As the filling station is situated in an upscale locality people easily fell in her trap, police said.

"In 2012, she allegedly took advance payments to the tune of Rs 3.70 crore from Naresh Tyagi of Rohini, Akash Mishra of Gurgaon and Rajnish Tyagi for the same. However, the documents were never handed over to them," the official said.
The trio registered a case of forgery at Safdarjung police station against Kapoor last year. After investigations revealed evidence against her, Kapoor was arrested here today, police said.
