Army's Northern Command chief meets Guv

Army's Northern Command chief, Lt General D S Hooda, today met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here and discussed issues related to security in the state along with the upcoming Amarnath yatra.
Hooda, General Officer Commanding in Chief of Army's Northern Command, briefed the Governor about the current security environment, the pattern of recent infiltration attempts and cease-fire violations across the International Border and Line of Control.
He said the Governor and the Army Commander also discussed several issues relating to effective internal security management in the state and preparedness for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming annual Amarnath Yatra.
Lt Gen Hooda was accompanied by General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Subrata Saha.
Meanwhile, Suresh Chandra, Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), New Delhi, also called the Governor.
Chandra briefed the Governor about the steps initiated by the Commission for promotion and protection of consumers' rights, the spokesman said.
He said the Governor and Chandra discussed issues relating to the high importance of providing inexpensive, speedy and summary redressal of consumers' grievances.
They also discussed issues relating to the functioning of quasi-judicial bodies set up for the purpose at the district and state levels, the spokesman said.
