Army sends 23 students on education tour

Army today sent a group of 23 students from different schools of Ramban district on an educational-cum-motivational tour to Delhi and Haryana.
During the tour organised as part of 'Operation Sadbhavana', the children, having an interest in sports, will interact with students of Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Sonipat (Haryana), St Stephen's College, Kirorimal College and Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi.
The tour would help create friendly bonds among local sports persons and students from the mainland, a defence spokesperson said, adding that they will undergo training in cricket, swimming, basketball, football and volleyball in Sonipat.
The tour named 'Sair-e-Watan' has been organised by Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Battalion and was flagged off by Commander 11 Sector RR at Chanderkot in Ramban.
Two teachers of Ramban are also part of the group, the spokesperson said.
The students will visit Khwaja Khizar Tomb, Tilyar Lake in Sonipat and Rohtak, and in Delhi they will experience a ride in Metro and visit Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Nehru Planetarium, Qutub Minar, Akshardham and Lotus temples and will also interact with Vice Chief of Army Staff, he said.
This tour will enable the students to spread the message of peace and communal harmony and witness rapid development being made in the fields of information technology, education, infrastructure, medical science and other sectors in other parts of of the country, he said.
