On being reminded that the upgradation of Naharlagun General Hospital to a multi-specialty healthcare facility along with setting up of medical college okayed by the Centre in 1999 didnot hapen even after payment of land compensation and the foundation stone of the 500-beded college laid by former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani at Pachin village on Nov 14, 2003, Pul regretted that lack of road communication and bridge over the Pachin river delayed the project.
He disclosed that Rs 46,25,782 was paid to 67 villagers for acquisition of 200 acres of land at Pachin village.
"I have spoken to UD Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kaso besides few villagers who have consented to vacate the land for the all important project. With the state government attaching top priority with zero tolerance principle to health sector, I appeal to the villagers to cooperate for the greater welfare of the state," Pul said.
Moreover, work was in progress at Tawang, Aalo, and Namsai to set up nursing school for which Rs 2.5 crore each was released while a Nursing College for GNMs proposed at Tezu. There would be provision for male nurses without affecting the female quota, he said.
